What is an Uproar chapter?
We believe that we hold the power to transform our lives and our world. If you are fighting corporate control and want to be part of something big and powerful, we invite you to create an Uproar Movement chapter.
Our chapters are the most foundational building blocks of our organization, and practice something called coordinated autonomy. This means that you decide what fights you take on in your town or city, and coordinate with other chapters across the country to decide our national vision and priorities.
Whether you’re a main leader or someone just getting into the fight, everyone in a chapter has an important role to play. Likewise, all chapters play important roles in determining the direction of our national organization.
Why start an Uproar chapter?
Uproar chapters make up a national organization taking on the billionaires, tech bros, and corporate overlords controlling our lives. By forming a chapter, you get connected with other chapters across the country. We all work together to set the direction of a national organization that is more powerful than the sum of its local parts.
Uproar chapters receive lots of support – from trainings and ongoing coaching to access to tech tools – to help you organize and win campaigns.
Uproar chapters are connected not only to each other, but to broader movements fighting the same fights. As a chapter, you tap into – and help build! – the relationships that Uproar holds with other communities around the country and world.
We fight in and for our local communities when we are faced with immediate threats to our well-being, but we also must take on the bigger picture by joining forces.
Take data centers, for example: we fight to stop new data centers in our own towns, but we also need to take on Big Tech’s overall plans to completely remake society by their creepy, dystopic playbook.
That’s why there’s no better time to be part of an independent, grassroots national organization.
How do I start an uproar chapter?
Start by bringing together a small crew of people ready to organize more neighbors into a shared fight. These fights could look like stopping the data center or surveillance cameras proposed for your town, taking on a scummy giant landlord, or confronting any other form of corporate control.
